RIP Casey Johnson

Nobody wants to die alone only to be found 5 days latter by their maid. AND nobody wants to be memorialized by a flame war between the 2 biggest whores on the internet.
Also can we all stop using the word wifey. Especially in conjunction with hyphy.

Wipe the dirty taste of lonely and untimely death out of your eyeballs with this old Vanity Fair profile on Casey Johnson and her feud with her even richer older aunt over a man. It has money, sex, betrayal, eccentric rich people and Michael Bolton (but only a little Michael Bolton). But it's not totally gross, just juicy, trust me.

Fun fact: Casey got her 1st pair of handmade snake-skin pumps at 11. First pair of handmade snake-skin pumps is totally the new first time you went to 2nd base.

Criminally Fancy

A lot of people dress their dogs up right? I see it all the time. Not this dressed up but...
Well the Brittish ASPCA (RSPCA) are threatening legal action against people who over dress their doggies.

I know, blah, blah, animal welfare but dogs knew what they were getting themselves into when they naturally selected themselves for our pleasure.

I mean check out the cuteness factor on Tori Spelling's beloved pug Mimi LaRue dressed up as Annie!

This post is dedicated to Ms. LaRue who passed away last June.
She was a star and a true lady, and she will be missed greatly - Tori Spelling

You Seem 'Nice'

On BART this morning I spotted this headline in the newspaper of the guy in front of me:

'Nice guy' fatally shot outside S.F. bar

The quotes are meant to represent what friends said about him, but doesn't it just seem sarcastic? Plus then this is the photo they run of the poor guy -

This is his very last chance to make an impression on the world and this is what he gets??? Sarcastic 'nice guy' quotes and then probably the worst picture ever taken of him.

Plus he was shot out on Broadway in SF where all the strip clubs are, in front of a smut shop, which he will now always be associated with. I do not want my memorial anywhere near strip clubs and drunk horny tourists.

So, RIP Richard Barrett, sorry you got such a bum rap. You seemed so 'nice', plus the article says that your drink was Patron and that's my fancy drink of choice too.

Super smokin' hot, social conscience, delicious (and organic!) pasta sauce. What more could you ask for.

RIP Nancy Maynard

Who???
Nancy Maynard was the 1st black, female reporter for the NYTimes AND she and her husband owned and ran the Oakland Trib for 9 damn years.

That's not all! She and said hubby founded the Maynard Institution for Journalism Education, she was the 1st president, training zillions (okay hundreds) of minority reporters and changing the complexion of news rooms all over the country.

What did you do today?

RIP Bernie Mac

I know this is a day late and a dollar short but I do want to give a little respect to Mr. Mac who passed last weekend.

I have love for anyone who can make me laugh but after reading all the tributes to Bernie over the week I have nothing but respect for the man.

This picture above is of him and his wife Rhonda. They met in high school and were married for 30 years.
In People she talked about their high school courtship,

"He said, 'You never seen a black man as pretty as me.' And I said, 'No, I sure haven't.' And he said, 'Girl, you know I'm so beautiful,'" she remembers.

A few months later, on Valentine's Day, he asked her to come to his shop class so he could give her something. When she got there, "I said, 'What do you have for me?' And he kissed me. That was our first kiss." The couple wed in 1977 when both were 19-years-old. Daughter Je'Niece was born the following year.
That alone brings a tear to my eye.

6,000 mourners showed up for Bernie's funeral in Chicago's South Side where he grew up and continued to live even after he became famous. On CNN.come mayor Richard Daley said of Mac,

"He wanted to help get children away from a life of crime and violence...That's why he's the king of comedy. He never lost his soul in Chicago."

I think the best quote though came from came from DL Hugley who said of their time on the road in the Original Kings of Comedy, "Bernie would wear colors that crayons hadn't even thought of yet."

Bye Bernie, and thanks for the laughs and all the great suits.
